Sending Durood upon Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is a beautiful way to express love, respect, and gratitude to our Muhsin, the one who taught us the Qur’an, guided us to Allah, and showed us the path of mercy and goodness. Through him ﷺ, we learned how to remember Allah, how to pray, and how to live with kindness and faith.
Reciting Durood is a heartfelt thank you to the Prophet ﷺ for his sacrifices and guidance. Each blessing we send upon him returns to us as mercy, forgiveness, and peace from Allah. By remembering him ﷺ often we strengthen our connection to Allah and honor the one who brought light to our lives.
Virtues / Rewards:
Ten Blessings: Every Durood brings ten blessings. (Sahih Muslim 406)
Erases Sins & Raises Rank: Frequent Durood purifies the heart. (irmidhi 264)
Closeness to the Prophet ﷺ: Those who send most Durood are closest to him on Judgment Day. (Tirmidhi 2692)
Acceptance of Dua: Sending Durood before Dua increases its acceptance. (Tirmidhi 337)
Tips:
Recite it slowly and sincerely, with love and respect for the Prophet ﷺ.
You may recite it any number of times—there is no fixed limit.
On Fridays (Jumu‘ah) – highly recommended.
