Clothing Dua's Before Undressing, Wearing Regular and New Garments



Before undressing -Wearing regular garment - Wearing new garment

1. Dua Before Undressing/ Removing Clothes
بِسْمِ الله -> “In the name of Allah.”
The Prophet ﷺ said that saying Bismillah is a veil between the jinn and a person’s awrah when removing clothes.-(Tirmidhī)

2. Dua for Putting On Clothes
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِي هَذَا (الثَّوْبَ) وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلا قُوَّةٍ
“All praise is due to Allah Who has clothed me with this garment and provided it for me without any power or strength on my part.”

3. Dua for Wearing a New Garment (Put On New Clothes)
اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ، أَنْتَ كَسَوْتَنِيهِ، أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ خَيْرِهِ وَخَيْرِ مَا صُنِعَ لَهُ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهِ وَشَرِّ مَا صُنِعَ لَهُ
“O Allah, to You belongs all praise. You have clothed me with it. I ask You for its goodness and the goodness of whatever it was made for, and I seek refuge in You from its evil and the evil of whatever it was made for.”

Sunnah Steps !
Wearing Clothes
Sunnah: Start with the right side
Right sleeve, right shoe, right sock, etc.

Removing Clothes

Sunnah: Start with the left side
Left sleeve, left shoe, left sock first

Aishah رضي الله عنها said:
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ liked to begin with the right in his purification, putting on his shoes, and in all good matters.”
(Bukhārī & Muslim)

Scholars explained:
Right side → for honorable actions (wearing, entering masjid, eating)
Left side → for less-honorable actions (removing clothes, leaving the bathroom)
