Waking Up Azkar

When You Wake Up (From Sleep)

Waking up from sleep is a moment of renewed life. The Prophet ﷺ taught us to begin our day by remembering Allah and thanking Him for the blessing of life, health, and guidance.
Sunnah Actions After Waking Up

The Prophet ﷺ would also follow these simple Sunnah practices after waking:

Gently wipe sleep from the face
Use miswāk (if available)
Begin the day with dhikr and gratitude

1.Dua Upon Waking

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ

“All praise is for Allah who gave us life after causing us to die, and to Him is the resurrection.” - Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī - 6314

2. Dua of Gratitude and Remembrance

الحمدُ للهِ الَّذي
عافاني في جسدي
وَرَدَّ عليَّ روحي
وأذِنَ لي بذِكره

Praise is to Allah Who granted health to my body,
returned my soul to me,
and permitted me to remember Him.- Ṣaḥīḥ at-Tirmidhī (3401)

3 . Recited the last ten verses of Surah Aal-Imran

Narrated Abdullah bin Abbas:

He stayed overnight at the house of his aunt, Maimuna, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ slept until mid-night, then woke, rubbed his face, recited the last ten verses of Surah Aal-Imran, performed ablution, and prayed several units (rak‘ahs) of night prayer. Ibn `Abbas followed his example. Afterward, the Prophet ﷺ lay down until the call to Fajr, then prayed two light rak‘ahs and led the Fajr prayer.
