1) Dua for Sighting the New Moon (Ramadān Moon)
اللَّهُمَّ أَهِلَّهُ عَلَيْنَا بِالْأَمْنِ وَالإِيمَانِ، وَالسَّلَامَةِ وَالإِسْلَامِ، رَبِّي وَرَبُّكَ اللَّهُ
O Allah, let this moon appear over us with security and faith, and safety and Islam. My Lord and Your Lord is Allah.When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw the new moon, he would say: “O Allah, let it appear over us with security and faith, with safety and Islam, and with success in what You love and are pleased with. Our Lord and your Lord is Allah.” Tirmidhī (Hadith 3451)
2) Dua Before Eating (Iftār or Any Meal)
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ“In the Name of Allah.”
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “When one of you eats, let him mention the Name of Allah. If he forgets to mention the Name of Allah at the beginning, let him say: ‘In the name of Allah, at its beginning and at its end.’” -Dāwūd (Hadith 3767)
3) Dua for Breaking the Fast (At Iftār)
ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ، وَابْتَلَّتِ الْعُرُوقُ، وَثَبَتَ الأَجْرُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ“The thirst has gone, the veins are moistened, and the reward is assured, if Allah wills.” -
Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ broke his fast, he would say: “The thirst has gone, the veins are moistened, and the reward is confirmed, if Allah wills.”- Abū Dāwūd (Hadith 2357)
4) Dua After Eating
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنِي هَذَا، وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلَا قُوَّةٍ“All praise is for Allah who fed me this and provided it for me without any power or might from me.”
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever eats food and then says: ‘All praise is for Allah who fed me this and provided it for me without any power or might from me,’ his previous sins will be forgiven.” Tirmidhī (Hadith 3458)
5) Dua When Breaking Fast at Someone Else’s House
أَفْطَرَ عِنْدَكُمُ الصَّائِمُونَ، وَأَكَلَ طَعَامَكُمُ الأَبْرَارُ، وَصَلَّتْ عَلَيْكُمُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ“May those who are fasting break their fast with you, may the righteous eat your food, and may the angels pray for you.”
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet ﷺ came to Saʿd ibn ʿUbādah, who brought bread and oil, and he ate. Then the Prophet ﷺ said: “May fasting people break their fast with you, may the righteous eat your food, and may the angels pray for you.”-Abu Dāwūd (Hadith 3854)
