Dua When Leaving the Home
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ
“In the Name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no power and no might except with Allah.”
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“If a man goes out of his house and says: ‘Bismillāh, tawakkaltu ʿalā Allāh, wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāh,’ it will be said to him: ‘You are guided, you are protected, and you are sufficed.’ The devils will turn away from him.”
Another devil says: “How can you deal with a man who has been guided, protected, and sufficed?”

Extended DuaWhen Leaving the Home
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ
أَنْ أَضِلَّ أَوْ أُضَلَّ،
أَوْ أَزِلَّ أَوْ أُزَلَّ،
أَوْ أَظْلِمَ أَوْ أُظْلَمَ،
أَوْ أَجْهَلَ أَوْ يُجْهَلَ عَلَيَّ
“O Allah, I seek refuge in You lest I go astray or be led astray,
or slip or be made to slip,
or wrong others or be wronged,
or behave ignorantly or be treated ignorantly.”
Umm Salamah (رضي الله عنها) said:
“The Prophet ﷺ never left my house except that he raised his gaze to the sky and said…”
then he recited the above dua. Reference Sunan Abī Dāwūd (5094)

Saying Salam When Entering the Home
(Even if the house is empty)
السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ
Anas ibn Mālik (رضي الله عنه) reported:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“O my son, when you enter upon your family, say salām. It will be a blessing upon you and upon the people of your house.” Reference - Jāmiʿ at-Tirmidhī (2698)

Dua When Entering or Leaving the Home
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَلَجْنَا،
وَبِسْمِ اللَّهِ خَرَجْنَا،
وَعَلَى رَبِّنَا تَوَكَّلْنَا
“In the Name of Allah we enter,
and in the Name of Allah we leave,
and upon our Lord we place our trust.”
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“When a man enters his house and mentions Allah upon entering and upon eating, Shayṭān says: ‘You have no place to stay and no dinner.’
But if he enters and does not mention Allah, Shayṭān says: ‘You have found a place to stay.’
And if he does not mention Allah upon eating, he says: ‘You have found dinner.’” -Reference
